Scones

Hey everyone, hope you’re having an amazing day today. Today, I’m gonna show you how to prepare a special dish, scones. One of my favorites food recipes. For mine, I am going to make it a bit tasty. This will be really delicious.

Follow the recipe for Simple Scones, adding a generous teaspoon of finely grated orange rind (zest) to the dry ingredients and substituting dried cranberries for the raisins. These scones are fantastic, and they're so easy to make. I've made them twice in the last twenty four hours, and got rave reviews each time.

Scones is one of the most well liked of recent trending meals in the world. It’s simple, it’s quick, it tastes yummy. It is enjoyed by millions daily. Scones is something that I’ve loved my entire life. They are fine and they look fantastic.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to prepare a few components. You can have scones using 5 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you cook it.

The ingredients needed to make Scones:
  1. Take 6 cup Self raising flour
  2. Prepare 4 tbsp White sugar
  3. Prepare 100 grams Butter, chopped
  4. Prepare 2 cup Milk
  5. Prepare 1 Egg, lightly beaten

Don't try to double this recipe. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. English scones are not glazed or frosted, and they are generally spilt open and spread with butter, but sometimes also with clotted cream and jam (yes please!). Our scones tend to be richer and more cake-like, usually made with egg and with heavy cream or buttermilk.

Instructions to make Scones:
  1. Pre-heat oven to 210*C.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, rub butter into flour and sugar.
  3. Now add milk and mix until dough like.
  4. Sprinkle a little flour into a board and roll out to around 1 & 1/2 to 2cm in height.
  5. Using a 6cm cookie cutter (or something similar), cut out scones and lay them out (closely) on a greased baking tray.
  6. Will make 12 to 15 scones.
  7. Brush egg over scones and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until they have risen and are golden brown.
  8. Serve with fresh whipped cream and your choice of jam (I like blackberry!).
  9. This batch was my first ever- turned out perfect and so very nice. Definite keeper this recipe, enjoy!

Scones are not the blobs of cheap bread dough shaped in a triangle and liberally dosed with sugar that Americans think they are (present recipe excluded, of course). And for those who complained about the crumbly dough, ummmmmm, crumbly dough makes crumbly scones. Scones are as quintessentially British as the Queen, Coronation Street, tutting and the Hollywood Handshake. Whether you slather yours in clotted cream, or dollop strawberry jam on first, this. Currant scones, sometimes slathered with clotted cream or topped with butter and fruit jam, are a very classic, British way to enjoy this baked treat.
