The ingredients needed to make Banana malpua:
- Take Banana (cooked and mashed)
- Get rajgira aata (Amaranth flour)
- Prepare kesar threads
- Take honey/sugar powder
- Make ready elachi powder
- Take khoya
- Get milk
- Take Baking soda
- Take Pista chopped for garnish
It is mostly prepared during festive season. Malpua is very popular in odisha and is served to lord Jagannath of Puri. Malpua is also prepared during holy month of Ramadan. A banana malpua is soft and fluffy in the center BUT it also has crispy edges.
Instructions to make Banana malpua:
- In a bowl add banana rajgira aata, khoya (mava), elachi powder, kesar threads and baking soda, mix together. Add milk.
- Milk until it forms a smooth paste. allow to rest for 20-30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, the prepared paste is ready for maal pua.
- In a non stick griddle, make small maal puas, cook on slow flame using little ghee.
- Flip and cook the other side.
- Malpua is ready.
- Garnish with pista.
